Shopify Design for my Handmade Product Business
As most handmade product business owner do, I started selling online via Etsy. My sales were great until...they weren't. It was like overnight a flip was switched in their algorithm and I was lost in a sea of sellers. I knew it was time to create my own website where my customers could only find my products. I had heard amazing things about Shopify and had some friends using the e-commerce platform for their handmade businesses so I dove in. After running my site for about 2 years, I was ready for a rebrand and also a redesign of my website. I love how it turned out and my customers did too!
Web Design Goals for cat o'neal
The main goal of my website was, of course, to increase my sales. Yes, I still had my Etsy shop because I don't (and you shouldn't either) put all of my *revenue* eggs in one basket. Learned that lesson from my experience with Etsy! ha
I also wanted to grow my email list and create an easy way for my shop owners to place wholesale orders with me anytime they wanted without the back and forth communication.
My handmade business website included:
- New Shopify store set up
- Customized website template using conversion-based best practices
- Automated product categories, which allowed customers to find products they were looking for easily
- Branded look and feel throughout
- Hidden portal for wholesale customers
- Newsletter opt-in
- Testimonial section
- Live instagram feed
- Styled pages: About, Shop Local, Wholesale, Contact
